Nathan Bishop
Owner/Producer/Engineer/Songwriter

Uptown Underground founder and owner, Nathan Bishop brings over 15 years of industry experience to the table. He also brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of communications and marketing to the label.

He has had a wide range of exposure to different recording environments and has recorded everywhere from small bedroom set ups to large multi-million dollar facilities. As an producer, engineer, artist and arranger, Nathan brings a keen sense musicality to his work. He has an in-depth of knowledge of the principles of acoustics and sound treatment. These principles were brought to bear when he designed and built the Uptown Underground facility and the results have been outstanding.

Nathan is also a well regarded songwriter. His song Without You Nathan was a finalist in the 2008 International Songwriting Competition (ISC) - the #1 contest of its kind. Two of Nathan’s songs Till I Met Your Sister and What Am I Supposed to Do were chosen to be part of the 2011 feature film, “The Unleashed ” and Nathan’s song Merchant Marine was used as the theme song for Paul Ciufo’s CBC Drama, On Convoy.

Nathan’s years as a musician and band leader have given him sharp ears and the ability to get the best performance possible out of an artist.


Dave Klotz
 Engineer/Producer/Composer/Beat-maker
 
Dave Klotz
Gemini nominated composer Dave Klotz has worked in almost every creative facet of the music business. A native Torontonian, Dave's early career involved composition, performance, arrangement, production and touring with a variety of musical acts. He has toured extensively in North America and Europe as a professional keyboardist, and has appeared on a multitude of albums.
 
Dave's main focus scoring for film. Over the past 20 years, Dave has been credited for composition in film, television, and dance choreography, for productions spanning from Toronto, to Los Angeles and Hong Kong. Following a 3 year stint in Los Angeles, Dave returned to his beloved northern paradise in 2006 to continue his career pursuits within a proper Canadian climate.

Dave is a graduate of the York University music program, where he received a BFA Music degree with honors, specializing in ethnomusicology, composition and avant-garde electronic music.

Dave is a very versatile composer, with a broad range of influences and styles. He is also a talented engineer and experienced producer with sensitive ears.  
 


Daniel Pothaar
Producer/Engineer/Session musician

Daniel Pothaar is a full-time producer/engineer. He's also a talented keyboardist and is often asked to play with clients in studio and live. His musical sensibilities, combined with his ability to listen and understand artist's needs, make him in constant demand as a producer. Daniel's love of music translates to endless cheerfulness, and positivity in his recording sessions. He often brags that he can immerse himself in a song for longer than anyone else and still maintain objectivity and appreciation for the music. Daniel is generally a fantastic human being and is also not too proud to write his own bios











 


 




Alyssa Ginsburg
 
PR Agent/A&R/Booking Agent

Alyssa Ginsburg is originally from Chicago, Illinois but now she makes Toronto her home. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

Alyssa has worked extensively as an political activist and organizer and has always stayed very close to the live music and spoken word poetry scenes. Alyssa handles bookings of Uptown Underground artists and is also our main point person for PR and media enquiries.

Alyssa also heads up our A&R activities providing the first line of screening for potential new Uptown Underground artists.
